A wash day that works for you
Wash day shouldn't feel like an all-day job. For many Black women, washing natural hair can mean detangling, shampooing, conditioning, moisturizing, styling, drying—and somehow discovering that half the day is gone. But healthy hair doesn't require an exhausting routine or a bathroom filled with dozens of products. The goal is much simpler: clean your scalp, condition your hair, handle it gently, add the moisture and styling products your hair needs, and protect it afterward. Your wash day should work for your hair and your life. Start With Detangling Before washing, separate your hair into manageable sections. If your hair tangles easily, gently loosen major knots with your fingers before shampooing. Depending on your hair, a little water or conditioner may make detangling easier. Start near the ends and gradually work toward the roots. Don't rush. Pulling aggressively through knots can cause unnecessary breakage. Your curls and coils deserve patience.
1. Seashells and Marine Life
The beach is a treasure trove of seashells, each one unique in its shape, color, and texture. Embark on a beachcombing adventure, stooping down to collect these oceanic gems as you stroll along the shoreline. Marvel at their delicate beauty, appreciating the intricate patterns and shades they exhibit. Keep an eye out for fascinating marine life as well, such as schools of colorful fish darting through the waves, curious crabs scuttling along the sand, and the graceful dance of dolphins in the distance. These encounters with coastal creatures remind us of the rich biodiversity that thrives beneath the ocean's surface.
